Domestic Abuse Strategic Review – Business Case, Recommendations for Service Recommission and Domestic Abuse Strategy

Following the extension of the current contract for the provision of Domestic Abuse Services in Barnsley, Healthier Communities have undertaken a strategic review of the service delivered, informed by our local needs assessment.

 

Findings from the strategic review and local needs assessment have been used to develop a new Domestic Abuse Strategy and identify the key priorities in how we can tackle Domestic Abuse across the borough. The Business Case for the service recommission has also been informed by the local needs assessment, and takes into consideration the requirements of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

 

The report seeks:-

 

              Approval of the new Domestic Abuse Strategy 2022 – 2027 for Barnsley.

              Approval of the recommendations for the recommission of the Domestic Abuse Service.

              Approval of any significant changes as part of the commissioning of the new service.

              Agree the recommendation that the new contract duration is for 5 years, plus 1, plus 1.

As part of the strategic review, comprehensive consultation and engagement activity has taken place with the following stakeholders:-

 

              Key partners including, IDAS and SYP

              Key BMBC internal partners including practitioners working in ASC, CSC, Housing Options, Equalities and Inclusion, and Communications.

              Relevant Cabinet members.

              Understanding Domestic Abuse Survey, conducted as part of the local Needs Assessment.
