Minutes:
A. Norris, Senior Health Improvement Officer attended the meeting to provide details of the Dearne Action initiative. He stated that a bid for up to £350,00 of funding would be made to Sport England for a three year project that would encourage physical activity in the Dearne.
Members indicated their support for the bid and emphasised the need for the project to include a wide range of activities to ensure that families are captured. It was confirmed that the consultation responses would determine such activities but that this was likely to include a variety of activities to ensure that the most inactive are engaged. It was confirmed that the project must be sustainable beyond the three year funding period and that local intelligence from Members would provide valuable information to support the project.
RESOLVED that Members welcome the Dearne Active initiative and further updates be provided to this meeting in due course.
