            (a)       Appointment of Executive Leader

To confirm the appointment of the Executive Leader for a fixed term of four years until the Annual Council meeting 2022.

            (b)       Leader to Respond to his/her Appointment

The Leader will respond to his/her appointment.

(c)        Appointment of Cabinet Members, Cabinet Support Members and Member Community Cohesion Champion

To note the appointment by the Leader, in accordance with the Local Government and Public Involvement in health Act 2007, the following Cabinet members, Cabinet Support Members and Member Community Cohesion Champion:-

(a)       Appointment of Leader

Moved by Councillor Howard – Seconded by Councillor Andrews BEM; and

RESOLVED that Councillor Sir Steve Houghton, CBE be confirmed as the Executive Leader of the Council for a fixed term of four years until the Annual Council meeting 2022.

            The Leader responded to the confirmation of his appointment by stating that it was a privilege and an honour to be the Leader of the Council for the next four years.  The previous four years had been some of the most difficult in the Council's history but the support of Members of the Council as well as staff, who had continued to work under difficult circumstances, had ensured that the success of the Council had continued.  The Leader commented in particular that it was particularly pleasing that all Members of the Council were prepared to work collaboratively for the benefit of the Borough.

(b)       Appointment of Cabinet Members, Cabinet Support Members and Member Community Cohesion Champion

RESOLVED that the appointment by the Leader, in accordance with the Local Government and Public Involvement in health Act 2007, of the following Cabinet Members, Cabinet Support Members and Community Cohesion Champion be noted:
