Decision:

Commission District Eating to produce Horticulture Micro-Feasibility Study as per the agreed scope of works at a cost of £5000 plus VAT.

Reasons for the decision:

The micro-feasibility study will examine the potential for an urban horticultural site in Barnsley, which could take the form of a greenhouse heated with low carbon renewable energy from waste heat. This has the potential to benefit the community in terms of jobs and training opportunities; local, low carbon local food production; carbon savings (from use of waste heat and reduced ‘food miles’); and increased food security.

Alternative options considered:

In accordance with BMBC Standing Orders, as the fees are below £10,000 , a single quotation is acceptable on the grounds of cost effectiveness and expedience.
