To create 100 supernumerary paid work placements within Barnsley Council and Berneslai Homes giving unemployed young people aged 18 – 24yrs the confidence, skills and sector-based work experience necessary to help them secure sustainable employment.

Throughout the programme young people will be offered support including training which develop labour market employability skills.

The aim of the programme is to get young people into a sustainable job or apprenticeship either within the council, Berneslai Homes or with another employer in a growth employment sector.

RESOLVED:-

1.    Officers to develop the programme with the aim of launching in May 2021; and

2.    The implementation of the programme be delegated to the Executive Director of Place, or their duly authorised representative.
