Decision:
Agreement to proposed procurement plans for three elements of work as part of the MHCLG funding of £127,000 for Community Champions. The three elements include;
· Procurement of a data intelligence consultant
· Procurement of a training and support package
· Identification of Community Champions
Reasons for the decision:
Following a successful application for funding from MHCLG to support BAME and Disabilities groups, agreement was required to commit the funding prior to 31st March and procure relevant providers to implement the programme.
There is an acknowledgement for the benefits of procuring some specific, time limited data intelligence work to be undertaken to build up a stronger picture of these communities in Barnsley. Alongside this, a package of support and training for frontline staff to improve engagement opportunities with these groups with a view to identifying some community based champions to sustain good levels of engagement moving forward.
