Consultation process

A report requesting approval to allow Community Safety and Enforcement to set up a scheme proposal and go to consultation regarding proposed designations for Selective licensing scheme/s and where appropriate to implement additional licensing for HMO’s.

The scheme design advocates better property management and tenancy engagement by landlords with tenants.  It has been proven where previously undertaken to improve community cohesion and raised property and community standards.

A communications plan is being worked up together with EIA and CIA plan.  It is anticipated that the consultation will be mainly computer based.  However all properties and landlords, managing agents, solicitors in the area and estate agents will be advised by letter that the consultation is being launched. There will also be consultation events during the 10 weeks (this is a statutory minimum) of consultation. Local ward meetings will also be attended to address any issues presented locally.
